Learn to Run: Beginners Running Program

  • Do you love the idea of being able to run, but when you try it just seems too hard?
  • Are you time poor, and need a time efficient form of exercise?
  • Would you like to learn to run whilst minimising the risk of injury?
  • Do you work well with the support of a group of like-minded women?
  • Do you want to keep up with your kids, be a great role model, and show them that Mum’s still got it?
  • Do you simply want to feel great?

If that sounds like you... don't miss our next course

“I have loved the Learn to Run course and I can honestly say I have got a lot out of it. I’ve never done interval training or even paced myself so those 2 things alone have been a good take out. I’m finding I finish each session and still have energy, some days I feel like I could keep running – considering this time last year I couldn’t make it to my letterbox and back, I am so excited.”

How it Works

beginners running program
#1 Kick your running off with a 90 minute workshop, jam packed full of technique and training tips which will make you wonder why you haven’t started before!
from learn to run to half marathon
#2 Your success becomes a habit as you get together with other running L-platers once a week for the following 5 weeks. In the sessions you’ll be running, and brainstorming ideas about how to make running part of your lifestyle. Our first Learn to Run course was over 12 years ago now, so we have a few tricks up our sleeves.

#3 Have your own personal running coach design a 6 week training program specifically for you. We customise a training plan for you, based on your level of fitness, your exercise history, and previous injuries (hopefully there won’t be any of those to take into account!)

#5 Share your triumphs, ask questions of your coaches, and connect with other L-platers in our Facebook group.
We’ve guided hundreds of women on their running journey over the last 12+ years. Our Learn to Run courses are the best way we know to be sure of nailing your goal of becoming a runner. Working towards a common goal with a supportive group of women, under the guidance of a professional coach means a 6 week commitment from you could be enough to change your life.

Who is Learn to Run for?

No minimum fitness level

We start with a total of 5-10 minutes of easy jogging during the first workshop, with intervals of walking in between, so this really is a true beginner’s course

If you’ve been worried about joining a group because you won’t keep up, or you’ll slow others down, this is definitely the group for you. The sessions are structured so that everyone is able to run at their own pace, but the group is kept close together – so you can chat.

If you’ve been struggling to get back into running after time off or after an injury and you need to take your comeback slowly

If you can already run for 15-10 minutes without stopping, you might like to try one of our interval training sessions, or contact us via email or phone to discuss what will suit you best

Our Philosophy

Learn to Run in Forestville

We’ve been teaching women just like you to run for over twelve years now. The focus is on getting you running for 30 minutes without stopping within a six week period. We’re not too fussed how far you run, rather than the length of time you are running for. We’re also not fussed on having you run fast (at least initially). In fact, one of our biggest challenges is getting people to slow down enough to be able to run for longer!

It’s our belief if you’re too focused on being able to run a certain distance, you could be setting yourself up for either disappointment or injury. It’s an awesome achievement to learn to run for 30 minutes without stopping, and that should be celebrated. Once you’ve reached that goal, you’ll then be fit enough to start looking at some distance goals, or a fun run if that’s your thing.

You'll Surprise Yourself

If you’re like most of our learners, you’re probably thinking right about now, that there’s no way you could run for 30 minutes without stopping in 6 weeks’ time. We’ve been doing this for quite a while now, so we have a pretty good idea of how to motivate running L-platers, and give them the confidence to learn to run.

If you think running’s too hard, or that it’s something you’ll never be able to do, could be that you’re doing a few things wrong, and we’d like to fix that.
