Richard Sarkies holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Movement) from the University of Wollongong, Level III Track and Field Coaching, Level 2 Strength & Conditioning Coaching, Certificate IV Personal Training, and lectured at TAFE NSW for several years across a broad range of health and fitness subjects
Richard has been working in the fitness industry for over 20 years, establishing Hooked on Health with his wife Kirsten Todd, in 2002. With both founders having a strong interest in running, it was only a matter of time before Hooked on Health became Hooked on Running!
He has many years’ experience training kids and youth athletes both on a one-to-one basis and in groups, and has coached in many primary and secondary schools. He is father to two young boys, Wilson 14, and Saxon 11, who are both mad for all things sport.
Richard’s sensible and measured approach to training has seen him stay mostly injury free over the 30 odd years he has been running. He is passionate about getting kids moving, and is particularly keen to help kids develop their full potential in the athletic arena. He has been a runner of some note himself since a teenager, and still eagerly participates in fun runs, cross country, and track events.
