Hooked on Running Juniors
Hooked on Running Junior Athletes compete in cross country, track, and road events.
The Hooked on Running method ensures our junior runners
- receive the appropriate level of training
- aim for suitable goals
- improve performance in running and all other sports played.
We encourage participation in a wide range of sports to develop all-round movement skills, fitness capacities, social engagement and enjoyment.
Junior Running Competition
Hooked on Running is affiliated with Athletics NSW as a registered club, so our runners can run in Athletics NSW events
Our junior runners also participate in local Park Runs, fun runs, and the Hooked on Running Cross Country series held from February to June each year.
Junior Coaching Structure
Our coaching structure is provides a model to develop junior runners to their full potentional.
- Seasonal plan – we follow a structured plan according to the time of year and adjust training accordingly
- Session structure – training sessions are structured using sport science principles to maximise benefits
- Events – we participate in a range of competitions over the year to provide variety to the running experience

Our junior athletes include
Liam started with Hooked on Running over 6 years ago, not long after his first representative event- the Warringah Zone Cross Country, where he placed 12th in the 9 years race. He’s come a fair way since then, competing in the last four National Cross Country Championships and the 2019 State 3000m Championships in a time of 9 min 23 sec.

Jack is a long term member, regular competitor at Area Cross Country and Athletics (and brother to Owen)
Wil is a very versatile athlete in middle distance and sprints. He competed in the 2019 NSW State Athletics Championships 200m.
Harriet competes in a range of events, including 1500m on the track, cross country, and triathlon. In n2019 she placed 9th in the 2019 CSSA Triathlon
Alex represents his school in cross country and track events and is a regular Park Runner, with a PB of 20 minute and 10 seconds. When he’s not setting his own Park Run PB, he’s pacing his mum to her next PB.
Archie has achieved area representation at cross country, and keen track runner. His 800m time of 2:40 in the 2019 Zone Little Athletics Championships was a highlight this year
Max is a versatile runner with bundles of energy for sprints and distance. He competed in Area Cross Country 2019.
